Alan Krashesky started his broadcasting journey in college as a news anchor on WICB-FM radio in Ithaca, New York, from 1979 to 1981. Later, in 1981, he worked as a news reporter, weekend sports anchor, and weather forecaster for WBNG-TV in Birmingham, New York.

After a year at WBNG-TV, Alan joined KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas, serving as a weathercaster and news reporter in 1982. It was the same year when Alan Krashesky switched from KTBC-TV to ABC 7 (WLS-TV). In his early days at ABC 7, Alan anchored the news cut-ins for the Good Morning America program and launched Chicago’s first-morning newscast.
